Ever since the castle first appeared in the sky above the city of Windfall, its residents have been building upward. Now the city consists of towers where the wealthiest residents live at the top while the poor eke out a living on the ground. Our podcast follows Cas, Shaima, and Argus, three brothers who live with their Uncle Vern after being orphaned during the grounder rebellion twenty years earlier. They find themselves drifting apart as Argus, the youngest, falls hopelessly in love with the much-older Helina, a foreign merchant haunted by her past; Cas, the middle brother, works in secret for the local crime boss; and Shaima, the oldest, struggles to keep their uncle’s scrap shop from going under. When Cas’s best friend, Kendall, is offered a position with the Wolfpac, Windfall’s military cult that acts as the city’s police, Cas is forced to decide where his loyalties lie. Meanwhile, something sinister looms over the city itself, threatening the lives of all who live in Windfall, from the wealthiest residents to the ground-level poor. Start at Episode 1.00.
Brothers Cas, Argus, and Shaima hunt for dinner in the sewers. Helina pays a visit to her favorite bartender, Gert. Queen Wanda meets with Captain Root to discuss the upcoming Contact Day Festival. Meanwhile, Kendall runs into trouble with the Wolfpac.
Kendall meets Pavlima, the Wolfpac’s chief seamstress. Helina makes a killing selling snake oil in the bazaar. Shaima picks up Uncle Vern’s slack around the family junk shop. Cas convinces Argus to pick an unsuspecting bar patron’s pocket.
Helina is plagued by nightmares of her time back home in the Western Reaches. Captain Root checks on Kendall’s progress in boot camp. Local crime boss Isaac asks Cas to collect on a growing debt that is personal to him.
Argus tests his good fortune by playing a hand at Swift’s underground casino. Pavlima and Kendall go on their very first date. Helina visits her therapist in hopes of getting past her recurring nightmares.
Argus uses his casino winnings to take an ill-advised trip to the upper market bazaar. Cas confronts Kendall about where she’s been all of this time. Helina and Sylvie discuss the complicated beginnings to their friendship.
Wanda spends the day presiding over Proximan trials from the comfort of her castle. Cas and Kendall put a plan in motion to solve both of their problems. Sylvie begs Helina to take better care of herself. Root pressures Pavlima to pick up the pace on the
Kendall begs Captain Root to keep his promise to her. Argus gets to know his cellmate. Vern shows Cas and Shaima just what he was doing racking up all that debt with Isaac. Pav makes Kendall a temporary proposition to solve her problems.
Helina is plagued with even more nightmares of her past. Cas owns up to Gert about the trouble he’s gotten himself into. Root threatens Pavlima and Kendall’s budding relationship. Tin Man and Root discuss the ever-filling prisons.
Mila pays a visit to the junk shop to collect Vern’s debt. Argus and Isaac plan their big prison escape. Queen Wanda reminisces about her dead parents. Root and Kendall have a tense conversation.
