Season 2 Indiegogo Fundraiser

Published on

Help us raise funds for Season 2 and visit the Indigegogo campaign here! Support queer art and indie audio fiction!

Transcript:

Hey there. I’m Tal Minear and I make this show! Season 1 is now complete, and I’m looking for your help to fund season 2. I’m running a crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo, and the link for it is in the description.

While I have you here, I want to talk a little bit about what goes into making the show. When I have an idea for an episode, I sit down to outline and then write it. This happens over the span of a few weeks. I’ll write on my lunch break at work, or on weekends, or sometimes on my phone when I show up too early somewhere. Once the episode is written, I cast guest actors who remotely record their parts. I record my own parts, which are Rion’s dialogue and narration, in my closet. For each episode, I’ll spend somewhere between an hour and two hours here. After recording, it’s production time! This process involves taking everyone’s recordings and arranging them into coherent dialogue. Once I have the episode’s conversations in order, I’ll add action foley, scenic ambience, and background music. This process takes several hours over the span of a few days. I also take care of the other production things, like uploading transcripts, making episode graphics, running the social media, and coordinating with the cast to make sure they’re properly credited.

What I’m getting at is - a lot goes into making a fiction podcast. It’s work I love, but it is work - and it costs money, too. I’m happy working for myself for free, but it’s important to me to pay all the guest voice actors involved in the show. Hosting the show also costs money, and there’s lots of small incidental costs that come with running a show. And that’s where this crowdfunding campaign comes in.

For donating, you can get perks such as stickers of the cover art, a shout out in the credits of an episode, a polaroid cat picture, the opportunity to name a character in season 2, exclusive supporter episodes and behind the scenes content, and the chance to ask me any questions about season 2 and the secrets it contains.

I set out to tell happy queer stories in a fantasy setting and I plan to continue that into season 2 regardless of if this indiegogo campaign meets it’s goal. But a little money goes a long way for indie audio fiction, and if you have the means to donate, it would really help. Thanks for listening, and you’ll hear from me again on March 15 with episode 11.
