In our episode:

Linzi recaps the second third of the Guy N. Smith’s Killer Crabs and explains why she dislikes Caroline more than Rawley Voorst (of Season 1 book The Pleasure Tube). Also: Harvey remembers a dinosaur fact, and Cliff discovers the Crabs' weak spot.

Goodreads Summary:

Their claws were strong enough to snap a man in half. Their shells were impenetrable, even by a six-inch naval gun. Their eyes glowed with malevolence, and as they tore their victims limb from limb they seemed to grin with sadistic delight. Never before had the world seen such an army.

Some Relevant Characters:

Klin - Expert fisherman. Knowledgeable but kind of a dick.

(Michael) Shannon - (Actor and) Shark Cop.

Corder - The reporter.

Caroline du Brunner - Has no motivation, background, job, family or interests other than immediate sexual pleasure which is, of course, the “ultimate in life” for her. The only female human in the book.

Bruce MacAndrew - a one-off character present in less than a chapter, for whom Smith wrote in health conditions, nightly stroll quirks, jokes, social status on island, and more before being killed by crabs. Linzi cut him from the episode for time but then referenced him as a contrast to Caroline’s lack of character.

Cliff Davenport - Professor, botanist, marine biologist. Killer crab expert.

Pat Benson - Cliff's wife, currently in London. Introduced in Night of the Crabs (is only referenced in Killer Crabs).

Harvey Logan - Big Game hunter.

Captain Manton/Frank Burke - Conman and bank robber.
