Hey everyone, Jeff here, and I’d like to introduce you to someone special. Her name is Madame Stephanie St. Clair and she’s the fascinating lead character in the excellent historical audio fiction Harlem Queen, by Yahne Smith. Set during the Harlem Renaissance, and based on a real-life numbers runner, Harlem Queen is a rarity in the audio fiction landscape, in that it’s a fictional account of an often overlooked figure in American history. It’s also sharply written and features excellent performances and naturalistic sound design. Season 2 just recently kicked-off, so now is the perfect time to get caught up.
Alexander and I love this show, and we’re so grateful Yahne allowed us to share the first episode on the Greater Boston feed in the hopes that more people hear it. We’re sure you’ll love it just as much as we do, so please subscribe to Harlem Queen via Apple Podcasts, Spotify, PocketCasts, or your favorite podcasting app of choice. You can also listen and get more information at harlemqueen.org, and support the show at patreon.com/harlemqueen.
